COAD LE Plates

The Correctional Officers Association of Delaware (COAD) is a non-profit organization that serves two purposes. COAD provides its members access to the Delaware Law Enforcement license plate, also known as the Delaware "LE tag." Membership dues that are collected, will be utilized to for the funding of the George McClure III Memorial Scholarship Presented by COAD Fund.

COAD has been able to make a difference in the lives of many. COAD has donated to charity auctions to benefit Law Enforcement Officer's, the Marine Corps. Toys for Tots campaign, the Special Olympics of Delaware, the American Legion Ambulance Service and COAD supported the purchase of ballistic safety equipment for the K-9 partners of a local police department. With your support, we will continue to make a difference!

The Delaware Law Enforcement license plate is available to any sworn (active or retired) law enforcement officer. This includes military law enforcement and Security Forces personnel.

The process for obtaining the plate is simple. First, you must print and complete the application. You can obtain the COAD application by clicking the button to the right. Application fees are a one time $20 per application. If you are a COAD dues paying member it is a one time $10 fee per application. You will select 1 number plus 3 alternate numbers and add them to your application.

After completing the COAD LE Tags application, you will mail that with a stamped returned envelope and a check payable to COAD to:

Once your application is approved and your number is assigned that application will be mailed back to you. You will then mail that approved application with a $10 check payable to DE Division of Motor Vehicles to

It will take approximately 4-6 weeks to receive your tag after DMV receives you application.

Quick Tip:

When you receive your plate we suggest you wax your new Law Enforcement plate with standard automotive wax to help prevent fading.
